Biography
Award-winning film director Billy Kent creates memorable characters that make people laugh. His sharply comedic style has garnered him clients far and wide. 2008 has made Billy’s passport very full shooting in Moscow, Europe and Canada, in addition to his slate of domestic work.
He recently completed his feature film directorial debut The Oh in Ohio, starring Parker Posey, Danny DeVito, Paul Rudd, Mischa Barton, Heather Graham, and Liza Minnelli. Over the last twelve years Billy has directed over 200 commercials and 11 short films. He has developed a reputation for inventive, stylized comedy. His series of political satire and parody commercials for MTV helped define the network's place in America's cultural lexicon. He has directed projects all over the globe, working on award-winning commercial campaigns with the world’s biggest advertising agencies. The Oh in Ohio premiered at SXSW, won best comedy at the Vail Film Festival, the Audience Award at Brooklyn International, was the closing night spotlight film at the Provincetown Film Festival, premiered in Europe at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and most recently played in France at the Deauville Film Festival. The Oh in Ohio was released in theaters domestically in July 2006 and on DVD in December 2006 by HBO.
Currently in is working on two new feature film projects, HairBrained comedy about a fourteen year old genius, big hair, an unlikely mentor, a ragtag team of misfits, college bowl and facing your dreams head on.
